How to make a Lord of the Rings Long Bow (Gondorian) Ty McTier

 This was a college final project that I helped my brother film. It took about 4 hours total to make the bow. In about 3 hours the bow could have been shot, but it took an extra hour or so to get the bow looking good with the sanding.

 Although Ty had a lot of fun dressing up like a Gondorian, please know that he doesn’t dress like this every day.

Items Needed:

1. Hickory Stave
2. Axe
3. A Good Hatchet (Eastwings are the toughest)
4. A Draw Knife or a Large Knife that can be jammed into thick stick
5. A good saw (Irwin Rough Cut)
6. Time
7. Patience
8. A lot of energy – this is a heck of a work out!

  This project was a lot of fun and my brother and I hope to have more videos littering the Internet very soon.
